Reviews

  1. This is an excellent book covering some of the key concepts at the NLP Master Practitioner level. Most books on NLP really cover the basic concepts, however this book covers some of the key principles at the Master Practitioner Level, and as the title suggests, presents the Spirit Of NLP. Rather than just offer lots of techniques, the book contains some great examples of language, beliefs and presuppositions necessary to become a good Master Practitioner, particularly so because much of the book seems to be based upon trainings of Richard Bandler and therefore offers many examples of his linguistic genius. Much of the book reads as though it was a transcript of a live training and includes exercises and ideas which are particularly useful, although no substitute for attending a live training. This book is an excellent reference for existing NLP Master Practitioners as well as current NLP Practitioners ” existing knowledge of NLP is recommended.

The book offers a good overview on Slight Of Mouth patterns, Meta Programs, advanced submodalities and state elicitation. Towards the end of the book there is a great chapter on thought processes and modelling excellence ” one of the fundamental cornerstones of NLP. Throughout the book the author points out the “towards and away from' indicated in the language ” those things through the communication we value and the things we tend to dislike, which is part of a valuable technique in any NLP change process. This is particularly useful in demonstrating the “propulsion systems' used in communication, which are described in the book.

The Spirit Of NLP is a valuable book for the more experienced NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner, full of great language, information and exercises.
