The World Health Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year, and we at Crown House have two recent publications aiming to nurture emotional resilience and positive thinking in both adults and children:
The Feel Brave story books, authored by Avril McDonald and beautifully illustrated by Tatiana Minina, are all designed to help children explore emotional intelligence, positive psychology and some of the real-life issues which they might face “ such as bullying, anxiety, bereavement, friendships and worries “ in an engaging, creative and non-threatening way, whilst the Feel Brave Teaching Guide serves as the perfect companion in providing activities and guidance on how to explore these issues in the classroom.
In popular psychology title GROW, author Jackie Beere shares observations, stories and practical tools to help you, and others you care about, grow. The book offers a personal perspective, but one that is informed by wide reading and research in the fields of psychology and cognitive therapy. Jackie appeared on BBC Radio Merseyside yesterday to discuss the content and aims of her book, which you can listen to here (Jackie appears at 17:50mins and 50mins in).
