On first glance the book is fairly intimidating because of its size and number of pages. However, it certainly has an impressive content list and subject range in terms of how to apply hypnotism in a stage setting. I found that despite my interest in altered states I found the book daunting and difficult to digest and comprehend.

The pictures certainly helped to re-inforce the methods being talked about and the bit at the end of the book helping hypnotists to set up a business is a good idea and has some really practical tips that can be modernized and used for marketing, advertising and ensuring legal framework is in place. This book is definitely for the more dedicated hypnotist and a definitive guide for those who wish to do stage work rather than someone who just wants to practice hypnotism for things like phobias or stopping smoking.

The one thing I appreciated as someone who has not trained in hypnotism were the simple exercises that demonstrate the power of altered states and how the mind/body interaction is very powerful. Whilst stage hypnotism is viewed by many as magical, the book clearly explains that we all contain the ability to use these states to create better mind sets for health, wealth and happiness.

Recommended for those who wish to become better presenters of the art and science of hypnotism.
