The author's key theme is bravery, emphasising the need to keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, in order to be the positive driver for change.

In the current period of educational challenge for schools and local authorities in England and Wales this book is essential reading for teachers, managers and governors facing the challenge of directing change. Throughout the book the regular “steps to being brave” are realistic practical tips to target progress. Well done Dave Harris both for your achievements as a head but more particularly for sharing your skills for “being brave” with others.
